〜しがち/Tend to, often

『〜しがち』

"~しがち" means "Tend to / often". And you can put this phrase following negative word, such as "disease", "tired", etc...

 

Noun + がち

You can put ”がち” to follow a noun.

 

病気(びょうき)がちのお年寄(としよ)り

an old person who often get sick.

 

病気(びょうき) disease

お年寄り old person

 

Verb(ます form)+ がち

You can put it to a verb. The verb should be change the "masu" form.

 

Let's put it to the words "get sick" now!

get sick + がち

=病気になる+がち

=病気になり + がち

=病気になりがち tend to get sick.

 

彼は、病気になりがちです

He often gets sick.

 

私は、疲れがちですね。

I often get tired.

 

疲(つか)れる get tired

 

彼は、孤独(こどく)になり がち です。

He is often lonely.

 

孤独(こどく)Lonely

~になる become ~.

孤独になる become lonly.
