~はどこですか?(Where is ~?)

どこ

Pronounced as ”doko”. "どこ" is used when you want to ask "where?".

~は どこ?

This is "A is B." grammer. You can put in the "~" part with a noun, such as a place, a thing, someone, etc... for example, I will put ”house”.

家は どこ?

This inculdes Kanji for house. You can read it as "ie". "ie" means "house".

Next I will write it in Hiragana.

いえは どこ?

This means "Where is a house?". In this case, you might wonder whose this house is.

But in this case, the speaker is asking to the listener. So, this house is the listener's house. So, "your" is omitted.

(あなたの) いえは どこ?

"あなたの" means "your". In Japanese language, if it's obviouse, the word is often omitted.

いえは どこ です

I put "です" at the end of the sentence to end it in a polite way. In this case, this sentence should be question. "どこ" is usually used in a question sentence.

いえは どこ です?

You should make the last part intonation as high pitch as in a question sentence in English. I put "?" at the end for making it clear for you to find this is a question. However, proper, correct Japanese has no "?" mark in the language. I mean, if you take Japanese language exam, please be noted that you don't use "?" mark.

いえは どこ です?

Anyway, this means "Where is house?".

いえは どこ です か?

This is more common question sentence for this. I put "か" at the end. ”か” is used to make the sentence question.

ほてるは どこ です か?

"ほてる" means "hotel". You can ask someone where the hotel is, when you travel in Japan.
