「~つもりです」vs 「~する予定です」

 

  • 夏休みに北海道を一週間で一周(いっしゅう)するつもりです。

一周(いっしゅう)する

 

「~つもりです」

Used when expressing the subject’s own intention.

 

In the above example, the speaker make a plan by his/herself to go around Hokkaido.

 

・試験勉強をするつもりです。

・田中さんは、留学するつもりです。

(例2)3月10日から、出張(しゅっちょう)で一週間タイに行く予定です。

 

 

 「~する予定です」

This plan is made by the company’s decision(not by you).

 

Just expressing that there is a plan. Not expressing about who plan.

 

例文

・来月から、旅行に2週間ぐらい行く予定です。

・来年の4月から、留学する予定です。

 

(例3)あさっては、クラスのみんなとお花見に行く予定です。

 

あさってday after tomorrow

 

this plan is made by the classmates and me after discussion.

 

例文

・明後日(あさって)は家族と一緒に相撲に行く予定です。

・会社の同僚(どうりょう)と一緒に外国で働く予定です。
